LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS we send our young men off to war defending our ideals no cheers, no pride, when they return and few know how it feels it's a wound that never heals lay down your arms in the past, we were asked for the ultimate contribution no right to choose, win or lose in somebody's revolution there's got to be a better solution lay down your arms we must create peace on earth so brother take brother in hand end the death, observe the birth of the brotherhood of man it's time to take a stand lay down your arms -Lee Anderson, September 1987

LAUGHTER i see a camera thrill - chill a frozen spot in time a smile is forever a mountain we all climb memories washed away like the chill of an autumn wind my past has come to haunt me in this postcard that i send send a letter i need to know where you stand life is a simple game when we all go hand in hand alone on a desert isle i sit by the fire and laugh a while i can still remember the wind would blow we'd sit alone i know, i know, i know that time has passed me by like a stranger in a crowd the way we laughed at a time before would never be allowed send a letter i need to know where you stand life is a simple game when we all go hand in hand i know i might be late but my time will never come alone, i am divided under the sun under the river where we both swam under the lifeline oh, how we ran we ran - don't look back if we can, we'd fade it all to black send a letter i need to know where you stand life is a simple game when we all go hand in hand i know i might be late but my time will never come alone, i am divided under the sun send a letter i need to know where you stand life is a simple game laughing all alone laughter - laughing all alone -June 1991

This track is nothing more than part of "Sun 621", played in reverse. For this new remaster I have taken it a step further and added all sorts of effects and stuff, to further weird up this track. Bizarre as hell but much better for it now.

about

Chris Anderson's 1st compilation release, and 2nd release overall.

After putting out Dialects in October 1992, I had already started work on a follow-up. While that initial follow-up, Chinatown, did not happen, it still more or less became established that making albums was a thing that I did. So I decided to throw together a compilation of tracks recorded in the years leading up to Dialects, and I gave out copies to family and friends for Christmas.

The earliest recordings on this set were made on 16 January 1987, in my bedroom, with Andrew McCain. In that session, we recorded a couple of Monkees covers as well as our very first original song - "Middle Earth". This set follows a winding path to 1992, featuring bands such as The Minors, The Miranda Warning, and Guido & The Blowfish, as well as several solo recordings.

In the 26+ years since this was compiled, my archive has gotten a lot more organized and I am sure a far superior set could be assembled, based on the recordings that exist from 1987-1992. While I was preparing this new remaster, I toyed with the idea of revising the track list, however in the end it was decided to keep it faithful to the original configuration.

Because there are cover songs on this set, the download is free.

All of these tracks have been newly remastered for this release. A couple of the tracks were dramatically transformed while others were simply made to sound better. None of these are perfect, but instead it all serves to illustrate at least a portion of my early musical development. It's a trip.

about

Chris Anderson Alexandria, Virginia

I made my first album in 1992 and I just can't quit. This site collects what came before my recording style changed in 2008. These are the records that shaped and guided me to the music I make now. Often flawed, always right. Newly remastered, with tons of bonus tracks, this catalog is my life story. A musical memoir in real time, ragged and as rough as I.
